Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Co-operate with all staff and volunteers.
Make coffee/tea using specialist equipment provided.
Assist with food preparation as required.
Keep service counters clean and fully stocked.
Ensure that all food cabinets are stocked and tidy to deliver a full service.
Inform assistant manager/manager of low stock levels
Assist in the cleaning and clearing of tables.
Use the dishwasher and wash up as necessary.
Ensure the food is served to the correct temperature & portion size.
Clean relevant service, preparation and storage areas using correct chemicals where appropriate and sign cleaning schedules as necessary. Must be completed at the end of every day.
All refuse to be removed from the kitchen/Caf Counter and put into the correct recycling streams.
Project a professional image to all internal and external customers ensuring correct grooming and maintaining the dress code.
To ensure that the correct close down procedure is followed, everything left clean, tidy and secure, ready for the next days trade.

Health and Safety

Ensure all accidents are recorded in the relevant accident books.
Use the correct handling and lifting procedures as outlined in induction training
To keep up to date with all H & S procedures and methods
Ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with the cafs health, hygiene, quality and safety standards

Customer Service

Serve all food from the counter using correct tools and presentation techniques
Should be friendly & approachable & have a good customer attitude
Should be personable to deal with customer queries & requests
Promote customer care through all actions and behavior


Finance

To operate cash register and POS
Assist managers with financial duties if requested cash reconciliation, banking, obtaining change, etc

Occasional Duties

To provide cover in the absence of the Assistant Manager.
To undergo training courses and attend meetings when necessary.
To be prepared to challenge and change work methods and procedures to ensure the smooth running of the department.
To carry out any reasonable management request.

Product:

Ensures that all customers are educated on our products and services.
Maintains the highest quality, consistent product standards.
Follows all Company drink recipes and procedures.
Passes monthly re-certifications in a timely manner.
Develops an understanding of coffee and tea regions and the various differences in flavor and blends.
Begins to educate themselves on the various types of coffee, tea products, blends and roasts.
Proficiently prepares blended and cold drinks provided by the store.

Service:

Greets all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items.
Verbally receives and calls back customer orders in a friendly manner.
Reports all customer complaints to manager on duty.
Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations.
Accurately rings sales orders into cash register and counts back change to customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
Answers telephone in a courteous and friendly manner including, but not limited to, giving store greeting, directions to store location, and receiving and filling customer orders.
Answers customer questions regarding coffee blends, preparation, and product freshness.
Weighs, grinds and packs coffee per customers orders according to Company guidelines.
Sells and serves baked goods and miscellaneous food items to customers.
Maintains efficient, friendly service.

Environment:

Restocks shelves when necessary.
Routinely cleans the bar area, floor, windows and grinders, and takes out trash, etc.
Assists in the distribution of weekly shipments.
Reports potential safety hazards to the manager on duty.
Reports all employee accidents to the manager on duty.
Informs the manager on duty of any operational inconsistencies.

Requirements, Qualifications & Physical Demands

Entry level position.
Runs errands, when needed, to pick up supplies and/or product.
May work special events, as needed.
Maintains positive Company morale and professional attitude.
Must be able to work overtime, as needed.
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Well-organized and detail-oriented.
Regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear.
Frequently required to use hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.
Regularly required to lift and/or move items up to 30 pounds.
Must be able to adjust vision to both day and night lighting, and be able to focus on distant and close-range projects.
Regularly required to handle food and hot beverages.
