Do you need flexibility in the days you work? Our bank roles (sometimes referred to as “relief roles” in other companies) mean that you will be able to choose from available shifts and have the benefits of a consistent workplace combined with opportunity to build positive relationships with the individuals we support. However, you aren’t guaranteed shifts every week as hours are worked as and when required.

Could you support our customers with learning disabilities to live more independently, identify their goals and achieve their aspirations?

We’re seeking a Bank Care and Support Assistant to provide personal care and support to our customers at Lawrence Road.  We have five rooms in a shared house, supporting five adults aged 18 to 65, who have a range of learning disabilities and physical disabilities.

Our Care and Support Assistants provide tailored support on a one-to-one basis. This will include personal care, assisting with activities within the community including days out, shopping and attending appointments. Excellent communication skills are essential as is the ability to build rapport and a trusting, long lasting, relationship with our customers.

We are looking for candidates with a passion for supporting people with complex needs to live as independently as possible, someone who values kindness and patience and who treats others with dignity and respect.

We provide a comprehensive induction programme as well as on-going training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression.

The role of Bank Care and Support Assistant will include:

• Providing personal care to customers, including washing, dressing and toileting
• Supporting customers with both preparing and eating meals
• Helping customers with their finances
• Giving customers support in the local community, including food shops and trips into town
• Aiding those with communication difficulties

Skills and experiences:

• Previous experience in a similar care role is desirable
• A patient and caring attitude
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to keep accurate records and clearly communicate relevant information
• A positive and accepting approach to customers whatever their needs
• NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards is essential
