Marketing Manager - Sustainability

This role seeks to help us reach this challenge and deliver on our Science-based targets which include not only halving our carbon footprint by 2030 (from a 2018 baseline) but ensure we obtain 50% of our revenue from leading sustainable solutions.

 

Job Purpose 
This role’s overarching purpose is to seamlessly integrate sustainability into every facet of our brands, marketing strategies and customer relations. The role holder will play a pivotal role in pinpointing opportunities and risks, fostering and inspiring stakeholders across the business with their respective sustainability initiatives, and spearheading unique pathfinding initiatives. All these efforts aim to continually enhance our commercial viability, brand reputation, and sustainability performance. 

 

Job Responsibilities 
1.    Sustainability Leadership: Responsibility for identifying sustainability-related opportunities and risks, and subsequently providing support and motivation to stakeholders across the business for their related initiatives. 
2.    Annual Sustainability Plan: Support creation and execution of an annual sustainability plan, incorporating these and additional activities, to bolster the commercial performance and brand reputation of the UKI Deco businesses, in line with clear KPIs. 
3.    Zero Waste Initiative: Spearhead our Zero Waste Decorating pillar, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders both internally and externally including industry bodies to support ongoing sustainable packaging projects, future sustainable innovation, and the implementation of best practices in on-pack sustainability labelling. 
4.    Customers Focus: Providing inspiration, engagement and support to our sales teams, guiding them on sustainability initiatives and how to further commercialise sustainability with their customers. 
5.    Portfolio Assessments and Accreditations: Completing annual portfolio assessments and accreditations. 
6.    Sustainable Product Solutions: Support our delivery of Sustainable Product Solutions and delivery of new sustainable solutions. 
7.    Certifications and Accreditations: Lead the delivery of accreditations, most notably BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing, while also providing insights into emerging accreditations. 
8.    Communications Support: Empower our Communications teams to ensure robust sustainability briefing, planning, and communications that meet our agreed KPIs. 
9.    Business Planning: Influence annual and ad hoc commercial and business planning activities, embedding strong sustainability insights into the business. 

 

Experience & Educational Requirements: 
•    Graduate level or higher with qualification in Sustainability, Marketing and/or Business 
•    Experience working in/with large commercial organisation/sustainability consultancy 
•    Recent continual professional development in Sustainability  
 
Essential experience: 
•    Previous specialist Sustainability or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) role experience essential 
•    Driving Sustainability/Environmental/Wellbeing agenda within organizations  
•    Complex Project Management 
•    Liaising with all levels of seniority in an organization 
•    Working cross functionally across a large matrix organization  
 
Essential Skills: 
•    Strong sustainability / CSR / ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) skills and applied understanding  
•    Strong Project and Programme management skills 
•    Knowledge of resource management/environmental footprinting 
•    Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) 
•    Excellent Interpersonal/influencing skills 
•    Strong IT and numeracy skills 
•    Independence 
•    Ability to occasionally travel Nationally and Internationally
