OTSN Network Management Centre Lead at National Grid
Warwick, United States

Job Descrption

About the role

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is at the heart of energy in the UK. The electricity we provide gets the nation to work, powers schools and brings energy to life. Our energy network connects the nation, so it is essential that it is continually evolving, advancing, and improving.

We’re passionate about both operating our network safely and providing highly reliable quality of supply for our customers. At the heart of achieving these outcomes is the effective control and operation of our network.

Join the Superpowered, and you’ll be involved with the development and management of our new Network Management centre. Working closely with the Security Lead and the Risk and Compliance Team, you’ll shape the team for the future.  With responsibility for leading the Network engineers to locally triage operational and security issues, you’ll coordinate the activities of the team to develop, configure and deploy solutions under a strong governance framework to ensure operational and security integrity is always maintained.

You’ll support the development of the system and networks from initial concept through transition to final install, management and maintenance, ensuring the network maintains forensic readiness.  In addition, you’ll be responsible for the development and management of performance reporting including KPIs and objectives to provide updates on status and compliance.

You’ll initially be based out of our Warwick office, moving to the new Centre at Hams Hall once it’s up and running.  Office working can be combined with hybrid working from home.

What you'll need

You’ll have experience of managing an operational technology environment coupled with a background in networking or telecoms.  Ideally, you’ll have experience of leading a team or of project deployment.

With a high degree of self-motivation, a methodical and positive approach to problem-solving with excellent organisation and planning skills, you’ll have experience of service recovery, particularly in stressful and pressured environments.

You’ll have the ability to manage the resources required to run efficient and resilient network operations, and you’ll be able to understand and interpret both security and external regulations that impact upon the operation and effective running of telecommunications networks.

Good communication and interpersonal skills are also essential.

What's in it for you?

  • A salary of £56,000 - £71,000 + Benefits package + Training and Development.
  • Holiday package 26 days annual leave plus 8 statutory days, with the option to buy additional or sell holiday days.
  • Generous contributory pension scheme - we will double-match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. Overall 18%.
  • Financial support to help cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, course fees, books, exam fees and time off for study leave – relevant to your role.
  • Access to flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
  • Family care benefits including a back-up care service for when your usual care arrangements fall through (six paid days each year as standard with the option to purchase further days).
  • Access to apps that support health, fitness and wellbeing.
