Science Systems and Applications, Inc (SSAI)  is seeking to fulfill a position to support project IT infrastructure and programming requirements at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). The project is a global network of lidar instruments collecting data on atmospheric aerosols, clouds, and the planetary boundary layer. The data are transmitted to our central archive and processing facility at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in near real time. Data products are available within an hour for all sites. We are seeking an applicant to support our data center infrastructure. Duties include both ongoing development and operational support for our website, processing code, data archive, and database. This project is moving some (potentially all) operations to Amazon Web Service, and duties will also include supporting the transition, developing our cloud infrastructure, and long-term maintenance of cloud operations. In addition duties will include maintenance of the existing cloud infrastructure supporting the WMO GAW Aerosol Lidar Observation Network (GALION) data center (a project under the World Meteorological Organization GAW program). The successful applicant will join a team including scientists and engineers. Experience working with atmospheric lidar, aerosol, clouds and related scientific research is a plus but not required.  This position can be Hybrid. A minimum of Goddard on-site office days would be specified by the support contract and center requirements. Currently a minimum of 1 day per week on site is required long-term with more days on site the first few months of onboarding and training.

Required Experience                                             

• Bachelors degree and 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience building and maintaining Python 3 modules and packages, preferably in a linux environment.
• Django python web frame experience, including website administration and programming (web pages, API, authentication, database, etc)
• Web programming experience with HTML, server side scripting, 
• API development and maintenance
• Amazon Web Service administration for both data processing and external website applications; AWS linux instance and container configurations (S3, EBS, etc). 

Desired Experience/Skills

• IDL programming (V 8.5 or higher) experience is desired but not required
• Google API (including maps) experience is desired but not required
• AWS certification desired.
