Job Description

SUMMARY                                                                                                                                             

The Assistant Video/Media Designer, Audio/Video Creative Development is responsible for conceiving, designing, filming, editing, and implementing video content for assigned Entertainment projects of various scale, including the World-Famous Studio Tour, Halloween Horror Nights, Fan Fest Nights, marquee events, park theatrical entertainment, historical archives, presentations and special projects.

 

JOB DUTIES

 

  • Works with the Creative Director of Audio/Video to develop video concepts via treatments and samples to communicate preliminary design ideas and intent.
  • Specialized skillset in Animated CGI a priority.
  • Creates video design elements based on project needs and creative intent.
  • Presents designs to project team and Creative Director to communicate vision, process, and implementation of elements.
  • Working with project management, specifies and budgets time and equipment for video design and integration.
  • Filming and editing of video content for a variety of purposes.
  • Retrieval and clearance of film clips from the Universal Vault archives.
  • Assists with the development of system design based on project specifications, working with technical team on implementation and installation.
  • Maintains all video equipment and computer systems including cameras, lighting, and hardware.
  • Continually performs quality checks for ongoing creative maintenance of elements.
  • Encodes and programs show software for video playback including scaling, transitions, movement, and cues.
  • Oversees the encoding and installation of content for video hardware playback in various environments including theatrical shows, special events, retail monitors and moving vehicles.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theatrical Production or minimum 5 years in a related field, with emphasis in video media design.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in advanced Animated CGI
  • Extensive experience in technical video production for live theatrical entertainment.

  • Expert classification in Final Cut Pro X and/or Adobe Premier video editing software.

  • Strong proficiencies on the following video creation software programs: Adobe After Effects,
  • Apple Motion and Compressor.
  • Working knowledge of various software programs including Figure 53’s QLab, Blackmagic ATEM control and Alcorn McBride’s Mediaflow.
  • Expert proficiencies in color correction, chroma key, video transitions, generators, tracking, key framing, and compositing.
  • Working knowledge of various hardware systems including Alcorn McBride, Gefen, AJA and Blackmagic.
  • Expert knowledge in camera operation including Canon, Panasonic, Sony and GoPro cameras, stabilizers, and various mounting hardware.
  • Expert knowledge in exporting and conversion for professional usage.
  • Working knowledge of lighting including green screen, indoor and outdoor filming.
  • Working knowledge of filming in low light conditions and nighttime events.
  • Solid background in managing projects from concept to completion.
  • Solid understanding of production of live entertainment in a theme park environment.
  • Solid understanding of projection and video walls.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, with confidence to multi-task and delegate as required.
  • Ability to drive results of teams through strong leadership and development skills.
  • Ability to identify and communicate creative solutions to challenges, and to maintain a consistent focus on priorities with persistent follow-through.
  • Confidence to communicate across all lines of business, with all levels of management.
  • Ability to deal well with ambiguity and constant change, working in fast- paced environments with accelerated production schedules.
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays and nights as required.
  • A strong passion to drive high quality results, both end product as well as process.

General Knowledge and Skills Required: Entertainment Assistant Video/Media Designer shall have the ability to read, interpret and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Be able to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Will also be able to effectively communicate, present information, and answer questions in one-on-one and group settings. Have strong interpersonal, analytical and time management skills and demonstrates the ability to work independently under pressure; proactive thinker/self-starter.

 

Communicating and influencing: Assistant Designers are required to communicate effectively with people at all levels in the organization, including providing specific, timely feedback to managers and others to work together more effectively.

 

Quality and partner focus: Continuously look for ways to refine and improve work processes to achieve better results. Follow through on commitments made to internal and external partners.

o Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
