Job Description

Role Execution:
- To ensure pool users do not behave in a way that endangers themselves or others around them.
- To ensure the pool water is safe and hygienic for bathing.
- To respond quickly and effectively to any accidents and incidents occurring in / around the pool area.
- To ensure the pool and surrounding areas a kept clean, tidy and free from safety hazards.
- To ensure pool emergency equipment is maintained and used in a safe and effective way.
Primary responsibilities, duties and functions:
- Maintain (valid) personal lifeguard qualification, competent swimming and lifeguarding skills.
- Presentation of a high personal standard whilst on duty, including grooming, hygiene, wearing of company uniform, and a positive attitude.
- Provision of a high customer service standard whilst on duty, including being approachable, attentive, using suitable language, lifeguard knowledge, and resolution of issues / queries raised by customers.
- Supervise the pool area, keeping a close watch over the pool and its users, exercising the appropriate level of control to enforce all club rules and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with pool users and colleagues.
- Anticipate problems and prevent accidents, including warning bathers of the risks of their specific behaviors.
- Intervene to prevent unsafe behaviors, removing or reducing hazardous situations.
- Identify emergencies quickly and take appropriate response action, including effecting rescues from the water, administering First Aid / CPR, and informing other Lifeguards and club staff when more help or equipment is needed.
* Secondary responsibilities, duties and functions:
- Informing customers about rules and regulations.
- Helping customers locate missing persons.
- Completing required records and reports on schedule and submitting them to the appropriate person.
- Undertaking pool maintenance, pool / pool area cleaning and tidiness, or other tasks as assigned.
*secondary responsibilities must not interfere with the primary responsibilities of lifeguards
