Human Resources Lead at Unilabs

Job Descrption
Unilabs, a leading medical diagnostics company, is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Lead to manage and deliver a comprehensive HR function in a clinical laboratory environment. This role will involve handling a variety of HR tasks including recruitment, engagement, employee relations, payroll, and HR administration, ensuring compliance with relevant UK regulations (CQC, UKAS), and supporting the onboarding and development of laboratory and administrative staff, and specialised doctors. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for visa sponsorship, HRIS management, and driving HR projects to support strategic goals.

Responsibilities
• HR Projects:
• Lead and deliver HR projects aimed at improving employee experience, improving operational efficiency, increasing production, and compliance with UK regulations.
• Recruitment:
• Manage the end-to-end recruitment process for laboratory and administrative roles, ensuring the attraction and retention of top talent, with the support... of an external firm when required.
• Onboard new lab and admin staff, as well as specialised doctors, ensuring a smooth transition into Unilabs.
• Offer Letters & Contracts:
• Prepare and issue offer letters, contracts, and other legal documents for UK-based employees, ensuring compliance with UK employment law.
• Visa Sponsorship & Compliance:
• Oversee visa sponsorship processes and manage compliance with UK immigration laws, ensuring proper documentation for sponsored employees.
• Manage Right to Work (RTW) checks and ensure all visa and sponsorship documentation is up to date.
• Onboarding & Compliance for Pathologists:
• Handle onboarding processes for pathologists, ensuring all compliance checks are completed and managing any practicing privilege files.
• Ensure the pathologists’ compliance with internal and external regulations, including the CQC and UKAS standards.
• Learning & Development Management:
• Manage the KnowB4 training portal and the company’s Learning and Development resources.
• Oversee appraisal management, ensuring consistent and fair performance evaluations across the business.
• Employee Relations:
• Manage all employee relations cases, including disciplinary actions, grievances, sickness absence, performance management, redundancies, and TUPE transfers, with the support of an external firm when required.
• Act as the point of contact for employee relations concerns and provide expert advice to managers and employees.
• HR Policies and Procedures:
• Regularly review, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures in line with UK legislation and company standards.
• HR Information System (HRIS) Management:
• Administer and update the HRIS (Oracle), ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
• Analyse HR metrics to track performance, turnover, and other key data, preparing regular reports for senior management.
• Occupational Health Referrals:
• Arrange occupational health referrals as required by company policy and provide advice on reasonable adjustments.
• Audit & Compliance:
• Lead HR audits to ensure compliance with UKAS and CQC standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to address audit findings and maintain accreditation requirements.
• HR/Payroll Administration:
• Manage all HR-related administration, including employee benefits, absence records, and maintaining accurate employee files, working closely with payroll.
• Ensure all consultants and pathologists have up-to-date files for practicing privileges.

Requirements
• Qualifications: CIPD qualified or working towards.
• Experience: Proven experience in a standalone HR role, ideally in a clinical laboratory or healthcare service environment.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK employment law, CQC/UKAS regulations, and compliance with visa sponsorship.
• Technical Skills: Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Oracle), Excel, payroll administration, and recruitment processes.
• Interpersonal Skills:
• o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• o Strong organisational and project management abilities.
• o Analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret HR metrics.
• o High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Additional Information:
• This role involves working closely with both the UK and HQ HR teams, requiring flexibility and the ability to collaborate across borders.
• The HR Lead will have a key role in driving forward HR initiatives in a regulated environment, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance
