Vice President – Planning and Operations at Rolls-Royce

As Vice-President for Operations and Planning, you will be responsible for strategic leading our central government relations and policy team to assess political, policy and regulatory developments and their implications for Rolls-Royce in the different markets where we operate. Working closely alongside our central strategy team, the central government relations team ensures our government engagement in-country is planned and executed consistently, to work in-step with Government as we strive to power, protect and connect people everywhere.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What you will be doing:
• Lead the development and execution of the government relations strategy in line with the tiering system, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and regulatory requirements through the coordination of calculating Value at Stake
• Manage team’s engagement in the political risk process and provide strategic input to the political risk process.
• Oversee all operational aspects of the GR function, including resource allocation, process optimization, and performance monitoring.
• Provide support to deliver compliance and controls work of Government Relations. Coordinate activities to gather and produce data for external GR related submissions including Dow Jones Sustainability Index policy influence section, disclosure of our sustainability and climate transition plans and monitoring lobbying register requirements and submissions across the GR team.
• Oversee development of GR playbooks to help progress and implement strategies to effectively engage with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry associations, and advocacy groups. Responsible for engagement with multilateral bodies such as ICAO and the GR aspects of engagement in COP.
• Drive the development of company policies and advocacy initiatives, advocating for the organization’s interests with government bodies and regulatory agencies.
• Collaborate with business divisions to support the implementation of advocacy strategies and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Core GR team, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Responsible for driving best practice in tracking sentiment and measuring impact with political stakeholders across the GR teams.

• Strong leadership qualities to provide strategic direction, inspire teams, and drive results
• Extensive experience in government relations, public affairs, preferably with a global perspective with multinational organisations
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex ideas, negotiate effectively, and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
• Ability to develop and execute global government relations strategy aligned with corporate goals and regulatory requirements.
• In-depth knowledge and expertise on country political and regulatory issues, enabling the provision of insights and guidance to internal teams and stakeholders.
• Experience in developing and executing strategic plans, aligning government relations activities with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in developing and advocating for policy positions, representing organizational interests to policymakers and regulators.
