The Product Experience team is team responsible for designing useful, accessible, and delightful interfaces and behaviors for all Dyson machines. We are looking for an entry-mid level UX Engineer to join us to create the future of human machine interaction.
As a UX Engineer you will be the bridge between design and software spaces using your passion for technology to solve user pain points and translate concepts into engaging prototypes and rewarding user experiences.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Dyson to design and build prototypes that bring ideas to life and spark inspiration.
Work alongside UI/UX designers to understand creative concepts and translate them into complete interaction models.
Take a proactive approach in concept generation/ development – host brainstorms, learn new relevant skills, gather research and user insight.
Strive to create sustainable physical and digital design solutions, considering ethical, social, and environmental impacts of design decisions.
Ensure prototypes are being created in an efficient manner using the right tools to answer the most impactful questions at the right point in the development process.
Support and find ways to improve process and communication between design and software.
Prepare for design reviews with James Dyson and/or Dyson Executives and participate in as required.
We are open to candidates from many educational backgrounds. The key is a love for learning through doing and a strong interest in how people interact with technology.
Experience working with different microcontrollers and platforms (e.g. Arduino & Raspberry Pi).
Familiar with UX design principles and applying them to your work.
Experience using UX prototyping tools (e.g. Framer & Figma).
Basic understanding or experience using JavaScript/TypeScript, React, YAML, JSON &/Or Python would be advantageous.
Basic electronic circuit design knowledge.
Flexible and dynamic approach to development, with the ability to adopt new concepts, languages and techniques quickly and then convey the benefits to others.
Can work independently, prioritize tasks managing multiple stakeholders • Comfortable with ambiguity and the unknown
A strong communicator, able to adjust delivery to suit the intended audience.
Resourceful, capable of optimistically tackling tricky or specialist problems.
Empathetic, able to see a problem from multiple points of view.
Agile and open minded, able to pivot and change direction quickly.
Desire to/ experience with mentoring.
