The opportunity:
In this role you will work to ensure that Markel’s international operations are resilient against all forms of operational disruption.
They will work with business leaders across all parts of Markel to review and enhance business plans both to protect the business and meet relevant regulatory requirements.
What you’ll be doing:
- Design and implement Markel International’s business resilience framework, ensuring alignment with the Markel Corporation framework as well as all relevant regulatory requirements including UK Operational Resilience and the EU Digital Operational Resilience Act.
- Work with relevant partners including those in IT, Workplace, Wholesale, National Markets and various shared service functions to ensure resilience plans are in place covering technology, data, facilities, people, processes, and third parties.
- Ensure there is an appropriate programme of testing in place against resilience plans, including crafting and leading scenario stress testing activities.
- Conduct the annual review activities for Operational Resilience including reviewing meaningful business services, setting impact tolerances and updating the self-assessment documents for all legal entities.
- Work with third party providers to ensure they have sufficient resilience plans in place and contingencies exist for stressed and non-stressed exits.
- Promote operational resilience by design, acting as an advisor on standard methodology for operational resilience across new initiatives.
- Lead relevant internal forums, providing materials and tracking actions as appropriate.
- Stay current with industry standard process to ensure the Markel’s operations remain resilience against emerging threats.
Our must-haves:
- A consistent record of delivering business resilience frameworks within the financial services sector, with a good solid understanding across facilities, technology, people, process, data and third parties.
- Experience of facilitating scenario stress testing exercises.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work efficiently with team members from across the business.
- Strong organisation skills and a tried experience working towards target deadlines.
- A good knowledge of relevant regulation including the PRA and FCA requirements for Operational Resilience as well as the EU Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).
- Work to stay ahead of external trends and promote standard methodology
