LMI seeks an Energy Engineer to provide engineering expertise and guidance that will improve and expand energy efficiencies and capabilities for a portfolio of facilities throughout their facilities lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be an electrical engineer who will be responsible for providing technical expertise in energy project development and implementation strategies to meet current and near-term Federal energy and facility standards. Candidates should be based in the mid-Atlantic region, preferably near the Washington DC area.

Responsibilities
Support the client’s facility energy project development efforts and sustainability initiatives by acting as a technical advisor for specific engineering matters.
Apply subject matter expertise to deliver solutions to engineering requirements for projects to include both new construction and maintenance and repair of existing real property.
Facilitate project meetings and communicate/collaborate with senior leadership, engineering subject matter experts (SMEs), project managers, architects, planning and budget staff, and facility managers about issues and solutions regarding project requirements.
Perform quality assurance reviews of design documents and engineering studies and provide associated technical recommendations
Engage with service providers, federal managers and program staff, national laboratories, private sector contractors and other stakeholders to identify facility energy requirements, perform gap analyses, and ensure the successful execution and delivery of engineering projects and work products.
Review project progress from an engineering perspective, measuring performance and taking necessary corrective actions to maintain agreed-upon requirements.
Travel to project sites at geographically dispersed locations nationwide as required to verify progress of work, ensure conformity with specifications and accepted engineering practices, attend program management reviews and contribute to technical teams as required.
Help manage existing ESPCs by working with energy services contractors to identify, plan, and implement energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water efficiency measures at sites across the client portfolio.
Track and manage legacy third party finance projects, including annual measurement and verification (M&V) reporting compliance and technical support for several existing energy performance contracts.
Help identify, pursue, and apply appropriate financing methods (ESPC, ESPC ENABLE, UESCs), grants (AFFECT), and Federal appropriations to execute energy projects and facility improvements that result in significant energy savings, and/or energy demand reductions.
Track inventory and manage performance of existing renewable energy systems portfolio. Provide technical and planning support for renewable energy systems not managed under active performance contracts.
Draft executive summary reports and white papers for sustainability/energy data as needed which may include white papers, standard operating procedures (SOPs), briefings, feasibility studies, research summaries, position papers, and similar analytical products in support of the client.
Prepare, review, and analyze sustainable energy project and market reports and conduct energy, environmental, and economic benefits analysis of sustainable energy technologies and projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or General) or related field.
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification preferred
Experience in analysis of energy consumption, energy rates, and life cycle cost analysis.
Familiarity with all and expertise in at least one of the following
Renewable energy technologies, such as solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, or biomass
Electrical distribution infrastructure technologies
Energy storage technologies
Energy resilience and security system technologies
Utility control system technologies
Guiding Principles for Sustainable Federal Buildings
Proficiency with software tools for research, analysis, reporting, communications, and collaboration (e.g., Microsoft Office suite, to include Power BI and SharePoint, and proprietary government real property systems and applications)
Federal or utility energy or sustainability experience preferred.
Strong candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in working with multiple stakeholders and building consensus
The candidate shall have consultative capabilities with strong communication and organizational skills
Experience in managing simultaneously, multiple projects with independent schedules and budgets
Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred but not required.
Moderate travel within the CONUS will be required.
Must be eligible for a U.S. security clearance; US citizenship required.
