Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a driven and talented computational physicist, engineer or mathematician to develop computational algorithms for the modeling and simulation of advanced and complex systems spanning the fields of electromagnetics and fluid dynamics. A demonstrated background in computational algorithm development in C/C++ and/or FORTRAN for the fast and accurate solution of differential and/or integral equation applications is required. A background in computational electromagnetics, computational fluid dynamics and/or computational mechanics is strongly desired. Employee will be given option of working out of our office locations either in Columbus OH or Dayton OH.
The successful candidate will work on the design and development of finite element and integral equation methods for the modeling of complex numerical phenomena. The candidate will research potential modeling algorithms, implement them in code, test their efficiency and efficacy and make continuing improvements where appropriate. The candidate may, if interested and motivated, also lead R&D business development activities, including authoring proposals, RFI responses and opportunity initiation.
An extensive programming proficiency in C++ and/or FORTRAN in a Linux/Unix environment is required. Experience with source code version control tools such as Git and continuous software integration such as GitLab is preferred. The candidate will require experience running, evaluating, and modifying large-scale parallel first principles codes that implement numerical solutions to differential equations; this experience should be broad-based and include finite element and boundary integral equations.
