The Opportunity  

We are seeking a dedicated and proficient Global Logistics Trade Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting both domestic and international trade activities, ensuring the successful import and export of materials in a compliant manner.. This permanent position will report to the Global Logistics Manager and duties will include but are not limited to the following;  

 

  • Utilize various shipping methods to optimize service and cost.
  • Ensure international imports and exports adhere to all regulatory and corporate guidelines.
  • Hold carriers and freight forwarders accountable for agreed pricing and service standards.
  • Execute timely delivery of goods and documents with accuracy and precision.
  • Stay informed about changes in import and export laws and regulations that impact the organization.
  • Participate in the development and publishing of internal and external manuals related to import and export requirements.
  • Review complex legal regulatory documents to address and respond to questions or issues identified by internal and external parties.
  • Utilize SAP and other trade systems to execute load delivery and trade documentation.
  • Communicate and collaborate with colleagues on trade issues and policies governing successful importation and exportation of goods in a compliant manner.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal customer base and external logistics providers.
  • Translate complex technical details and direct specific actions including process change management to meet customer requirements as needed.

 

   The Skills you will bring to the team

 

  • University degree in International Logistics, Global Trade or Business (equivalent experience of 5 years in lieu of education may be considered).
  • Understanding and working knowledge of complex federal import/export laws and regulations, including U.S. Customs regulations, FDA regulations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and product classification (HTS and ECCN).
  • Strong interpersonal skills (both written and verbal). Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form with all levels of personnel and external vendors.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining productive at all times.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Meticulous and detail oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-changing business environment.

The opportunity will be based in Chicago, IL with hybrid working arrangements. Some in office days may be required.
