The Chemist is based at the Wetherby Photoinitiator Centre of Excellence as part of the technical team reporting
directly to the Development Chemist (n+1), then Director of Research and Development- PIs (n+2)
● Execution of planned projects within the R&D programme, setting timelines, delivering, and reporting
results in a timely manner.
● Process scale-up and transfer from R&D to manufacturing operations, both internal and external.
● Developing and evaluating new synthetic chemistry procedures and manufacturing processes.
● Running routine analytical tests.
● Providing support for internal and external manufacturing operations.
● Liaise with other functions as required.
● Maintain a clean working environment and general housekeeping.
● Sample administration, packing of samples and dispatching, waste disposal.
● Working safely; using and understanding existing COSHH and risk assessments and writing new COSHH
and risk assessments for the work undertaken. Following quality procedures, safety procedure and SOPs.
● Be fully committed to following the quality system along with the safety and regulatory requirements of the
business.
The role is laboratory-based, with all the associated implications for health and safety. The jobholder must meet
and interact confidently with other internal departments and represent the company in a professional capacity at
all times.
The role involves external project led technical support and may require travel domestically and non-domestically
as required.
