Project Manager - Mechanical (CDM)


SEIC, Bridgwater - with regular travel to suppliers’ (UK and Abroad) and to HPC site. Flexibility of working from home, minimum 3 days a week in the office.

The Opportunity...


As a Project Manager as part of the MEH Programme, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of engineering, procurement, manufacturing activities of the contracts or work packages related to the Piping scope of work, in accordance with the overall Project schedule.


In this role you will ensure planning and delivery is in accordance with all safety, quality, time, and cost parameters to meet the needs of the Project.  Reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager or Lead Project Manager you will be responsible for the direction and leadership of all activities associated with the full life cycle delivery of a major contract or contracts assigned to you.

What you’ll be doing…

 

  • Drive the delivery of the contracts and packages within your area to ensure they are delivered safely, with the required quality, on time and to cost.
  • Managing nuclear and conventional safety in line with the company processes and values.
  • Applying quality processes in line with the HPC Integrated Management System.
  • Defining the strategic approach, to work scopes and secure stakeholder approval liaising with the Head of the Engineering, Procurement and Manufacturing Team.
  • Undertaking contract administration activities (with support of a Commercial Manager) including variations, claims, technical queries and instructions, using CEMAR.
  • Anticipating, managing and resolving issues within the contract or package. Identifying risks and facilitating the resolution of all issues raised.
  • Managing of all change to the contract including - scope definition, business justification and implementation of agreed change in line with associated governance.
  • Developing and implementing strategies and plans in line with the overall Programme Definition Document (PgDD).
  • Maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders and execute the project strategies within your contract or package of work.
  • Working closely with the dedicated Engineering Lead, Commercial Manager, Quality Lead, Planning Engineer, Cost Engineer of the work scope to ensure delivery of the scope is delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements.
  • Ensuring level 3 schedules are developed and maintained for the contract or package of work.
  • Ensuring the List of Deliverables (LOD) relating to the scope of work is delivered.
  • Applying principles of Earned Value Management (EVM) whilst effectively monitoring and mitigating impacts to critical paths.
  • Reporting progress, risks, and issues to the Senior Project Manager on a regular basis.
  • Reviewing and approving Contractor’s applications for payment.
  • Applying principles of Continuous Improvement.
  • Ensuring that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual.
  • Interfacing with other programmes to ensure a high-level view of how the total project is progressing and to identify and adopt the use of best practice.
  • Ensuring that contract or package contractual requirements are fulfilled.
     

Who you are…


Your background may include some of the following:

 

  • Degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Previous experience in Piping (Engineering, Fabrication or Construction).
  • Project Management experience with track record of delivering projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment.
  • Able to demonstrate strong project management skills including risk management, budget, use of earned value tools, schedule management, quality management, change management and team management.
  • Experience of successfully engaging stakeholders.
  • Experience of managing contractors/consultants throughout large and complex construction projects, in a regulated environment – ideally including NEC contracts.
  • Understanding of EPR design and experience of EPR projects is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of French and/or German languages is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
