Mechanical Components Engineer


Gloucester or Glasgow. Hybrid with a minimum of 2-3 days in the office per week.

The Opportunity…


We are looking for a Mechanical Components Engineer to join our Mechanical Components Branch (Piping and Process Group) as part of our Nuclear Services Business.


Nuclear Services is a specialist technical area, and we bring together technical capabilities to support the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) nuclear new build projects and the existing Nuclear Operations operating stations and decommissioning sites.


As a Mechanical Components Engineer, you will ensure the reliability and performance of safety-critical systems, including pressure systems, HVAC, and diesel generators.


This is an excellent opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary team and develop in depth knowledge or EPR , PWR and AGR station design and operation.

What you’ll be doing…

 

  • Serving as the single point of contact for designated scope, providing technical support to the Programme team.
  • Conducting technical reviews, maintaining oversight for safety case requirements, and managing technical issues.
  • Supporting junior engineers, and managing stakeholder interactions
  • Enacting the "Intelligent Customer" role for design and supply of mechanical components, and the “Responsible Engineer” role for supplier technical deliverables.
  • Leading Engineering Reviews, formulating strategies and supporting resolution of emergent issues.
  • Collaborating within cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
     

Who you are…


You are someone who has…

 

  • Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with experience in safety-critical industries preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical capability, and technical written communication skills are all essential.
  • Experience (or potential and enthusiasm to develop) of design/substantiation to engineering codes and standards, and safety case development.
