Electrical Engineering Lead


Aztec West, Bristol - with flexibility of working from home, minimum 3 days a week in the office.


Are you degree qualified in a technical discipline? Do you have broad experience in the nuclear industry including knowledge of nuclear safety cases. Are you looking to develop your expertise and in the exciting and challenging environment of new nuclear build?


If so, join us as an Electrical Engineering Lead and you’ll join one of the most exciting and ambitious projects within EDF, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK.


The Opportunity...


As an Electrical Engineering Lead, you will be working with a wide network of stakeholders and attending an array of meetings to ensure you stay fully in touch across the project. In this role you’ll be establishing frameworks and small project structures with a focus on pragmatic decision making, delivering solutions and mitigation of issues.

What you’ll be doing…

 

  • Solving cross-functional technical issues which would not be resolved, achieving a best-for-project solution with a schedule-conscious approach.
  • Providing a decisive escalation route for issues which are deadlocked and a catalyst for innovative optioneering.
  • Working with the programmes and the technical teams on prioritisation and emerging scope topics, maximising the efficiency and value of delivery.
  • Global risk management - Understanding risks and keep up to date risk tracking.
  • Specific risk management - Bringing issues back under control when they start to escalate, putting in place mitigation plans and working with the technical and programme teams to bring an issue back under control.
  • Advocating for pragmatic decision making which respects the overall aims of the project.
  • Producing and driving mitigation plans for risks and issues, ensuring they are delivery focused. There will also be a strong focus on optioneering and governance decisions, ensuring these are fit for purpose and made at the right level.
  • Managing the provision of engineering services for HPC project, achieving suitable technical outcomes with a focus on value engineering and optimisation.
     

Who you are…


Your background may include some of the following:

 

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant technical discipline (i.e. engineering, science, maths).
  • Broad experience in the nuclear industry including knowledge of nuclear safety cases.
  • Experience in instrumentation or low voltage electrical components is a plus.
  • Experience across the project lifecycle which may include design, manufacture, construction/installation, commissioning, and operations.
