Assistant Project Manager


Satellite Delivery Centre, Bridgwater. Regular travel to HPC required. Hybrid (minimum of 2 days per week at SDC and HPC site)

The Opportunity…

 

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK, providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.


We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our Turbine Programme.


As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the Project Managers to ensure the effective delivery of activities in the programme to required safety, quality, time and cost targets, while recognising and managing the impacts of the programme on the wider Project.

What you’ll be doing…

 

  • Working with and support the Project Managers to develop the scope to be delivered within the contract and manage and define interfaces with other elements of the programme.
  • Maintaining effective communications with relevant stakeholders.
  • Driving the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements.
  • Anticipating, managing, and resolving issues within the contract or package.
  • Identifying risks and facilitating the resolution of all issues raised, developing, and updating the programme budget, and escalating any issues to the Project Manager.
  • Ensuring that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all project team members
     

Who you are…


Your background may include some of the following:

 

  • Working towards a Professional Qualification in Project Management such as APM PMQ or other recognised qualification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Project Management in a construction environment.
  • Experience in engaging stakeholders including contractors, consultants, and advisors.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills, able to communicate effectively and interact with senior managers.
  • People management skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence, and work collaboratively within complex, internal and external, multidisciplinary groups.
  • Ability to display and communicate a logical thought process, with excellent analytical skills, including capabilities for budget analysis and forecasting.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure and within tight timeframes.
  • Degree qualified or similar qualification in engineering or construction field (not essential).
