Electrical Engineer Contractor Support


Aztec West, Bristol, Hybrid, Minimum of 3 days in office

Opportunity…

 
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer, to join our nuclear energy business working as part of EDF’s Technical Directorate based in Bristol. 


You will provide technical oversight of a range of different contracts to support our client licensee requirements and underpin Nuclear Safety. 


This is an exciting time to join the team as the HPC Project is moving into the key mechanical & electrical erection phase and work is progressing on securing the Sizewell C Project to help Britain achieve #CarbonNetZero.

What you’ll be doing…
 

  • You will need strong technical engineering skills based on electrical disciplines on large engineering/infrastructure projects. Experience of functional design and electrical distribution. Within High & Low Voltage. 
  • An understanding of EPR design and the nuclear fuel cycle would be of benefit and a good knowledge of the UK Nuclear Regulations and Legislation.
  • You’ll be motivated, self-starting and pragmatic with the ability to work across multiple discipline teams in driving the development, implementation and resolution of technical topics and issues.
  • You will also understand the bigger picture and be able to develop and execute innovative approaches to delivery, for the benefit of the project. 


Who you are…

 

  • Extensive technical leadership experience working as an Electrical Engineer within a project environment.
  • Design experience of Low Voltage electrical distribution across a large site comprising a number of functional buildings.
  • Degree qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant electrical engineering discipline. 
  • Ability estimating sitewide and building electrical demands across a range of operating profiles and seasonal variations.
  • Determining Essential and Non-Essential electrical loads and assigning appropriate electrical supplies.
  • Experience sizing of electrical distribution equipment such as transformers, generators and UPS.
  • Knowledge of Selectivity / diversity analysis, electrical protection and cable sizing.
  • Project lifecycle experience including design, qualification, manufacturing, construction, commissioning or site-based operations.
  • Experience of working within a highly regulated environment.
  • Design experience of High Voltage electrical distribution across a large site comprising a number of functional buildings (Desirable).
