The Manager, Investment & Valuation role within the Investment & Valuation (I&V) department will bring renewable energy projects forward for investment decisions at RWE Clean Energy. The Manager position will lead individual projects seeking investment approval, support a team of analysts/associates, will act as a team deputy for their assigned region of focus, and report to the Senior Director leading such region. The current Manager position available will primarily support the Central US and Latin America region.
Responsibilities:
Support the strong growth ambitions of our Renewables business (solar, onshore wind, energy storage, and hydrogen) in the Americas – with a focus on the Central US (MISO, PJM, SPP), Mexico and Chile
Lead investment decision processes, derive investment recommendations and prepare and deliver presentations for RWE Clean Energy Executive Leadership Team and RWE Board consideration
Prepare or lead preparation of financial valuations, primarily via DCF methodology in Excel
Prepare or lead preparation of investment materials (in Word and PPT) for the RWECE Board
Evaluate assumptions, risks & opportunities to investment decisions; identify key value drivers; challenge and discuss with relevant subject-matter experts
Manage stakeholders within the investment decision process, which will include frequent communication with and presentation to senior management
Coordinate and perform diligence on investment opportunities (both qualitative and quantitative)
Identify and implement improvements to investment process and valuation approach, including the use of digital solutions
Support and train other members of the I&V team and contribute to our strong team spirit
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering, or similar 4-year degree in a technical area of study, required
Advanced degree with a focus on finance or economics, or a finance-related professional designation or certificate (e.g. CFA, CPA), strongly preferred
Minimum 8 years of experience in Finance-related roles
Proficiency in valuation methodologies (especially DCF) and financial modeling (Excel)
Experience leading a project and communicating/presenting results to senior management
Experience working across many functions of a complex organization to support decision processes
Experience in a large global and/or multi-cultural business, with diverse groups of stakeholders
Experience in the US renewable energy industry is preferred and will be prioritized.
Experience supporting M&A/deal due diligence and execution is preferred, though not required
Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships and stakeholder expectations, including for the company’s top management
Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
Strong leadership and communication, and ability to work within tight deadlines
Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
Ability and desire to support and train other members of the team
Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
Detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
English and Spanish language proficiency, preferred
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York City is $114,000 - $170,000 . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
