Group Insurance and Claims Administrator at Associated British Ports

ABP is seeking a proficient and detail-oriented Group Claims and Insurance Administrator to join our dynamic team. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the efficient management of claims and insurance processes within one of the UK's leading port operators.

 

The purpose of this role is to provide administrative support to the Group Insurance function, assisting with insurance renewal, liaising with internal and external stakeholders and working under the direction of the Group Insurance Manager (GIM).

 

This role is a 12 month fixed term contract and can be based in either Immingham or Ipswich, offering flexibility to suit individual preferences and circumstances.

 

Accountabilities

  • Provide support to the Claims and Insurance Specialist and GIM in the daily management of claims
  • Setting up new claims (Internal Order or local reference requests) and issuing acknowledgment to stakeholders or third parties as directed by GIM
  • Instruct experts upon request from the Claims and Insurance Specialist and/or GIM, ensure the experts’ reports are received following a visit
  • As directed by Claims and Insurance Specialist and/or GIM update internal spreadsheets ensuring the information is always current (ie reserves, payments etc)
  • As directed notify relevant insurers of new claims and liaise with appropriate business unit to obtain documents and information in order to consider the claim
  • Ensure that industry time bars are frequently checked and communicated to the Claims and Insurance Specialist and/or GIM for necessary action to be taken (a list will be provided)
  • As instructed by Claims and Insurance Specialist and/or GIM liaise with business units and other parties to collect claims data, documents, information, updates etc for consideration 
  • Assist the GIM with any insurance/claims projects as requested
  • Carry out insurance tasks as required
  • Involvement in ABPs insurance programme’s annual renewal as directed by GIM
  • Assist the GIM with administrative insurance tasks such as payment of premiums, certificates requests, vehicle insurance list (including MID management) etc

 

Skills, experiences, qualifications and competencies

Essential

  • Educated to a minimum grade 4 GCSE Maths and English
  • Insurance experience (broker or insurer)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Methodical and accurate approach to work, with excellent organization skills
  • Confident verbal and written communication skills
  • Team oriented. A collegiate approach to sharing knowledge and working with colleagues across locations is essential.
  • Able to progress tasks using own initiative, seeking guidance and input from others where appropriate
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Desirable

  • Marine claims handling experience
