We are looking to hire a Control Room Operator to monitor the safety systems within the Immingham Renewable Fuels Terminal (IRFT) system, ensuring that any abnormalities are escalated to the Operation’s Manager.
The terminal is based on the Immingham port which is the largest port by volume as well as being the largest handler of dry bulk cargo through the state-of-the-art Humber International Terminals (HIT) 1 and 2, which can handle up to 20 million tonnes of dry bulks each year.
Accountabilities
Actively promote ABP’s safety culture and ensure compliance with Health Safety and Environmental requirements and other legislation including the development and review of risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work, delivering associated Toolbox talks as required.
Respond to changes to pre-planned operations ensuring it is communicated, monitored and achieved with a comprehensive debrief undertaken with lessons learned.
Develop and maintain direct links with key contacts, both internal and external as required in order to co-ordinate operational activities.
Accountable for monitoring the Terminal Control ‘Safety’ systems, ensuring that abnormalities are escalated to management
Accountable for monitoring the environmental impact of terminal operations, effectively deploying environmental control systems, ensuring that all operations are carried out and recorded in accordance with LAPCC Environmental permit.
Develops a working appreciation of the Terminal Management/Control Systems (Coal & Biomass) and Weighbridge system, including stock entry; providing customer stock information; liaising with Customers and Agents.
Participate in internal/external audits when requested and the addressing of corrective actions.
Contributes to continual improvement culture amongst staff, through the development of improved systems/procedures that will drive forward all aspects of the terminal operations
Maintains accurate data logs to ensure operational performance can be reviewed.
Liaises with the appointed Port Rail Coordinators, Freight Operating companies, Network Rail and ABP Rail Terminal Operators to ensure that the weekly dispatch schedule is maintained, and that any stoppages and ‘off plan’ variances are recorded and communicated to the Planning tea.
Responsible for ensuring the effective deployment of service providers in accordance with the requirement of the shift plan, recording any issues and ensuring that these are communicated to the supervisory team
Liaise closely with the Operations and Engineering teams, ensuring equipment is available/cleaned to allow planned maintenance to be effectively carried out, therefore minimising operational disruption whenever possible.
Ensure the shift handover is detailed and documented.
Skills, experiences, qualifications, and competencies
Driving License
A safety focused individual with knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation.
Service & Customer driven with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate to all levels.
A sound knowledge of Plant/Control Room/Weighbridge systems, preferably in a similar industrial environment
Pro-active approach with sound organisational skills.
Good IT skills which should include Outlook, Excel & Word.
Experience of working in a pressured environment with a track record of meeting targets in a timely manner.
You will be required to work weekends, 12-hour shifts and this will include night work.
