We are now looking for an
EHS engineer
to join our team working for a better future. The position is permanent and the preferred location is in Havant, UK.
What you will be doing
A hands-on Health and Safety advisor role. Working as part of our small team, the successful EHS Engineer will play a key role in supporting our management systems, delivering safety training to staff, conducting audits and helping to promote a positive culture whilst ensuring the company adheres to all current legislation, policies and procedures.
As EHS engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Promote a positive H/S culture throughout the company and supply chain.
- Contribute to the Company’s H/S commitments in the highlighting and promoting best practice.
- Monitor and review site performance when needed through near misses, dashboards, CARS, inspections, safety walks, audits, toolbox talks.
- Assist and participate in the highlighting of health & safety related risks (HSE Committee meetings, town halls and training)
- Agree remedial action with SMT on any non-conformance and carry out follow up review to ensure the appropriate implementation has taken place.
- Ensure C.O.S.H.H documentation are maintained.
- Ensure full implementation of the Company’s Accident Reporting Procedure.
- Ensure the implications of changes in legislation and environmental, safety techniques are communicated and implemented throughout the Company and Supply Chain.
- Maintain relevant EHS procedures in accordance with the Company’s Integrated Management System.
- Ensure that corrections and corrective actions are defined and implemented for EHS non-conformities
- Educate and train local operational organisation to ensure that EHS procedures and standards are understood and complied with
- Review/evaluate current local methods, procedures and systems and recommend changes that will improve the productivity and/or EHS performance i.e. create, review and update risk assessments
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have/be:
- HSE qualification i.e. IOSH/NEBOSH
- Knowledge or understanding of current health and safety legislation
- Experienced in writing RAMS
- Strong IT and numeracy skills, familiar with Word and Excel
- Experience carrying out site inspections/audits
- Proven experience working in EHS role
- NEBOSH
- CDM qualification
- Training experience or qualification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to manage conflict and resolve in a timely manner
- Eager to achieve
- Attention to detail
- Able to problem solve and work off own initiative
- Willingness to challenge organizational culture where necessary
- A results-oriented mindset, comfortable with reporting and analysing
