Your future role
As a General Manager you are part of the UK Services Execution management team and the "Primary Project Interface" to the Core Team / Customer's Operations team(s) and Core Team/Project lead and be responsible for ensuring that all maintenance and repair work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner. You will be responsible for the 'day to day' delivery of the Contractual Obligations to the Customer, the Leadership and Direction of the Projects large team(s) and Project strategy leader and Key Customer Lead on projects.
We’ll look to you to:
- The Leadership and Direction of the Projects large team(s) which operates across 5 large depots across the UK.
- Ensuring the successful delivery of the Train Services Agreements to C2c within budget and to meet the end customer needs.
- Working to ensure consistent application of procedures and financial controls and budgets, providing regular reports (KPI’s) for onsite activities.
- Ensuring that the Customer / Supplier relations, communication and performance are maximised, both internally and externally, whilst ensuring the delivery of risks and opportunities to enhance Alstom’s margin and positioning with the Customer.
- All to be undertaken whilst maintaining Compliance with all relevant Quality and Safety Standards The P&L of the Project and its associated EAC Position including Risks and Opportunity.
- Providing appropriate Project Performance Reporting at Project Reviews, Customer(s) Reviews and Governance Meetings (MPR, GPR & FPR) utilising appropriate tools.
- To take full responsibility for the delivery of the C2C Electrostar fleet contract in terms of on-time delivery to the customer. Ensure optimum use of people, which will include personal development, other resources with a clearly focused attention to cost, quality, health and safety and environmental.
- Product delivery of all maintenance and repairs within the scope of the contract at East Ham and Shoeburyness sites, and any call-off, non-contractual work arising using East Ham/Shoeburyness resources.
- Site Management - Responsible for Alstom site and staff management, Quality, Health and Safety processes in order to achieve and maintain a safe and efficient working environment. The General Manager will be responsible for providing direct leadership to the Train Care Centre managers across the 5 major depots.
- The Leadership and Direction of onsite / off site teams and supporting functions including managing individual Performance & Development, Succession Planning using the Alstom tools (PMC, Competency Development etc)

- Significant experience of project and operational management in a major environment incorporating: Best Practice, Total Quality Management, Continuous Improvement, Lean Management, 8D analysis and ISO 9001 processes, preferably within the Rail Industry.
- Proven Track Record in continuous improvement and cost down delivery
- Experience in QHSE site based requirements.
- Strong Project Management skills
- Strong Contract and Commercial knowledge
- Good communicator both through face to face discussions and presentations

Knowledge of the below is desirable
- AZDP and/or APSYS
- Quality Management System

- Good knowledge of EAC and Budget management
- Good knowledge of the railway industry and of its trends with specific reference to train maintenance
