Appointment Basis: Permanent – Monday – Friday day shifts

 

Salary + Benefits: CIRCA £60,000 - £65,000

Alstom also supports 66% of the UK fleet through its Services business and is the UK’s leading CP6 signalling & infrastructure provider.

 

Employing 6,000 people across the UK and Ireland, we design, build and test trains at the UK’s largest end-to-end train manufacturing factory in Derby and operate major sites at Widnes, Crewe, Ilford and Plymouth, as well as 30 train services depots across the UK&I

 

 

 

Your future role

The Depot Operations Manager is responsible for leading and developing a positive culture and working environment that drives attitudes and behaviours to support and continuously develop the overall project strategy for improvements to Safety, Quality Cost and Delivery. The Depot Operations Manager will utilise, mentor and develop his operations team to ensure the key deliverable as defined by the organisation are optimised for the benefit of the shareholders and the services value chain

 

We’ll look to you for:

 

  • Acts as an integral part of the service function and core team member, dedicated to support and manage relationships with the customer.
  • Ensures high standards of Health & Safety in a hazardous front-line rail environment, process stability, quality, and safeguards that plans are achieved on time, quality and cost.
  • Manage and plan the availability of the workforce as closely as possible to the projected workload; communicate all resource-issues, and actively assist in the preparation and the implementation of the appropriate measures (e.g. recruitment, training, internal transfers, flexibility agreements,….) to meet the resource requirements of the project.
  • Review and refine planning and delivery to increase efficiency and drive margin enhancement and free cash flow.
  • Create, adapt, alter and maintain all relevant plans, processes and procedures as required to ensure contractual targets are met.
  • This role will encompass all aspects of maintenance including heavy maintenance, exams, defects etc.
  • Work closely with the Derby based MSA team ensuring alignment and coordination.
  • Lead KPI based performance measurement, inspires continuous improvement and maintains a solid base for shop floor management by ensuring that all functional areas collaborate smoothly.
  • Act as a role model for HSE and fosters improvement by regular information and communication on all levels.
  • Ensure that sickness levels, restricted duties and briefing targets are all continuously managed to safeguard the safe operation of the teams.
  • Ensure work is performed in a safe, effective manner and in accordance with the H&S at Work Act, Rules and Regulations, Railway Group Standards and Alstom Policies and Procedures.
  • Review work plans with Core Team to ensure daily production targets are met as effectively and efficiently as possible.
  • Maintain good industrial relations within area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for ensuring IT systems are updated and where required concluded in relation to work done.
  • Encourage continual professional development for staff within your areas of responsibility.
  • Deliver APSYS Improvement Plans

  • Equivalent NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Field
  • IT skills – competent user of Personal Computer, including office packages, e-mail, Internet.
  • Good communication, verbal and written, report writing and organisational skills.
  • Experienced in fleet and/or maintenance operations and planning workloads effectively.
  • Technical knowledge of relevant Traction and Rolling Stock.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Network Rail Rules and Regulations.
  • Understanding of Alstom’s Operational business and its Customer requirements.
  • An understanding of SAP, Maximo and ability to use MS Office packages.
  • Knowledge of Rail industry IT systems, Trust and Gemini.
