Your Role:
As the Maintenance Technician II with MilliporeSigma, your role is to maintain and install equipment, facilities, and utility systems and to provide leadership, expertise, and training to other department members. This is a multi-skilled role responsible for completing work orders that cross over traditional fields. The position will be for middle shift 8 hours M-F or 4 ten-hour shifts M-Thu.
Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders
Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints
Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment
Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods
Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading
Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints
Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications
Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications
Cut and bore holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation, using hand and power tools
Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools
Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems
Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections, using valve keys or wrenches
Remove and replace worn components
Inspect work sites for obstructions and to ensure that holes will not cause structural weakness
Physical Attributes:
Walking, standing, reaching above the shoulders
Use feet to operate equipment, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear, use hands to operate tools and equipment
Lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
Wearing a hard hat, safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, a safety harness, protective clothing and gloves, respirator, and face shield
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
1+ years of Industrial Maintenance experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong machinist skills, including operation of lathes, end mills, drills presses, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Electrical Engineering, Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering Degree
Communicate using excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Generate and lead process improvements
Good organizational skills and knowledge of 5S
Leadership skills
Experience making decisions and resolving problems (analyze alternatives, evaluate risks, etc.)
Electrical, HVAC and/or Mechanical license(s)
Understanding and use of building management systems
