The role
As a Mobile Repair Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll inspect, diagnose and repair any of London Fire Brigade’s (LFB) assets at their operating or Training locations, in a safe and efficient manner.

 

Day to day, you’ll support the LFB fleet in the maintenance and repair of approximately 460- vehicles and 46,000- items of operational equipment, ranging from hydraulic rescue equipment to screwdrivers and respond rapidly to assist breakdowns at the roadside and at various LFB locations.

 

  • Diagnose faults and test vehicles utilising technical equipment and procedures and techniques, including road testing, whilst understanding the importance of following procedures, method statements, work instructions and risk assessments.
  • Visit LFB stations and training establishments throughout the Greater London area, and elsewhere, to maintain, adjust and repair heavy and light vehicles, components, accessories and operational equipment in a safe, proper and economical manner.
  • Observe, recognise and report on defects and/or symptoms of impending failure by interpreting technical service information and data from manuals, bulletins and or computer files and data.  
  • Carry out Station Checks on assets ensuring all documentation is completed to drive a proactive approach to asset maintenance.

 

This role is full time and will be based at Ruislip on site. There is a requirement to travel to various LFB locations as part of the role  


Essential experience of the Mobile Repair Technician:

  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical instructions
  • Ability to work unsupervised and complete work to a high standard

 

 

Qualifications for the Mobile Repair Technician:

  • NVQ Level 3 HGV vehicle maintenance and repair 
  • UK driving licence - mandatory, Category B, desirable Category C

 

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
