The role
As a Principal Systems Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will support and deputise for the Systems Engineering Manager with the engineering delivery of the Maritime Electronic Warfare System Integration Capability (MEWSIC) programme. This shall cover the provision of technical leadership, Systems Engineering (SE) management and domain knowledge consultancy.
Day to day, you’ll be responsible for the delivery of equipment/system programmes for a MoD customer, as well as:
- The delivery of C5ISR systems across the SE life cycle, including an understanding of the CADMID life cycle and its alignment with systems/product life cycles
This role is a hybrid role with 1-2 days per week onsite at Bristol. There is also a possibility to travel to Devonport 1-2 times a month.
Essential experience of the Principal Systems Engineer:
- Demonstrate a drive to deliver results on time, meeting cost and quality targets, taking ownership of problems / issues whilst working diligently towards a resolution.
- Working knowledge of MoD procurement processes, project delivery practices and technical standards compliance – desirable
- Domain expertise in one of the following:
- Electronic Warfare systems.
- Combat Management Systems/Shared Infrastructure
- Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance.
- Military RADAR systems.
- Military communications networks (WAN and LAN);
- SOSA.
Qualifications for the Principal Systems Engineer:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
