The role
As a Fabrication Supervisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Type 31 Project will deliver 5 general purpose, global, adaptable, and exportable frigates to the Royal Navy designed to undertake a range of operational tasks from maritime security, humanitarian aid and disaster relief and defence engagement to operation in a high threat environment.
Day to day, you’ll lead and motivate a group of operators to safely achieve defined packages of work. Utilise resources in the most effective manner focusing on elimination of waste and improving value add. All within the prescribed budgets, quality and delivery timescales.
- Efficiently utilise employees in the execution of the contracted work, ensuring that start/stop times, attendance standards, behaviour standards are always maintained.
- Manage the work load to meet contract requirements whilst achieving cost, time and quality requirements.
- Establish and ensure safety focussed working practices and the working environment is in accordance with the Company policy.
- Liaise and work with planning, materials, warehousing, quality and other support functions to ensure a co-ordinated team approach.
- Liaise and work with customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Promote and encourage ownership and accountability for all staff and work force within their areas of responsibility.
This role is full time at 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday and will be based onsite at our Rosyth Dockyard site.
Essential experience of the Fabrication Supervisor:
- Time served with extensive recent and relevant experience in a Fabrication/Welding discipline.
- Ability to work with composite teams
- Familiar with Cost and Schedule performance
- Requirement to read and understand Installation Drawings.
- Experienced in computer use e.g. MS Office, MS Word and Power Point.
- Heavy fabrication/ship build supervisor experience’
Qualifications for the Fabrication Supervisor:
- ONC/HNC preferred but not essential.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS and SC security clearance for this role.
