The role
As a Management Accountant you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for the financial management of the Military Flying Training System (MFTS) contract, with a particular focus on increased controls around budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
Day to day, you’ll be responsible for the reporting of monthly accounts, budgets, forecasts and strategic plans for your contract areas, and act as a key member of the Business Facing Finance team.
Key duties will include:
- Production of timely and technically accurate contract/site accounts, budgets, forecasts and strategic plans including variance analysis
- Production of timely and technically accurate budget, forecast and strategic plan reports and presentations for the Business Unit Finance Director
- Business partner with the operations teams supporting them with meeting their forecasts and budgets, and providing analysis and insight
- Assist in the preparation of contract review presentations identifying future opportunities and risks
- Establish, create and maintain appropriate processes to ensure effective financial and business controls
- Assist in providing financial support to achieve key performance measurement and efficiency targets
This role is a full-time position and will be hybrid role with regular attendance at our Lakeside offices in Portsmouth, with occasional travel required to other offices/operational sites as required.
Essential experience of the Management Accountant:
- Demonstrable experience in a similar Management Accounting role
- Ability to understand and manipulate data to present clear and concise financial messages for review
- Strong IT skills, in particular Excel to intermediate / advanced level
- Experienced in the use of Finance systems (e.g. SAP, Navision, IFS or similar)
- Long-term contract accounting experience (highly desirable
Qualifications for the Management Accountant:
- Recognised Accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
- Degree level education (desirable)
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC level security clearance for this role.
