The role

 

As an Assistant Buyer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will support procurement activities in our Through Life Equipment Support business unit within our Land sector relating to vehicle, MRO Spares and sub-contracts. 

 

Day to day, you will compile information from multiple sources into central databases for the purposes of forwarding data to internal and external stakeholders.

 

  • Monitor internal communications to ensure that all data relating to repairable assets is recorded in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Monitoring and forwarding communications from various sources to the Repair Team as required.
  • Monitor concurrent projects and have a situational awareness of team activities.
  • Supporting contract administration activities.
  • Orderbook management.
  • SAP administration such as data collation and uploading contract, supplier, and material data.


This role is a 26 Week FTC at 37 hours per week. It is adaptable and can be based at various sites, including Andover, Hampshire or Donnington, Shropshire sites.

 

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. We are happy to consider flexible, blended working, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview. 

 

Essential experience of the Assistant Buyer:

 

  • An ability to prioritise/ organise own workload to ensure that deadlines are adhered to, and to successfully deliver under pressure, whilst displaying ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Proven experience of operational delivery in a complex, time critical environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and operational functions in the organisation.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
  • Build and maintain relationships to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus, and achieve solutions.

 

Qualifications for the Assistant Buyer:

 

  • Educated to Level 2 in National Qualification Framework (NQF) as a minimum (GCSE grade C or above, Level 1
  • National Vocational qualification (NVQ), Level 1 diploma).
  • Membership of CIPS
