The role
As a Vehicle Maintainer Driver, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role is to ensure the correct and efficient day-to-day support in the provision of vehicle maintenance and driving duties whilst on shift. You will undertake motor transport support tasks as directed by the Middle Wallop Unit Repair Section Charge Hand.
Day to day, you’ll provide driving and maintenance support for the green fleet vehicles - including Land Rovers, MAN SV, Aircraft Refuel /Oshkosh, and Aircraft towing tractors - at the Army Aviation Centre at Middle Wallop, as well as:
- General vehicle maintenance and servicing duties, with the ability to problem solve and fault find to ensure minimum downtime in accordance with the Customer’s and the Company’s standards, practices, and procedures.
- Undertake driving tasks, appropriate to licences held and commensurate with Babcock’s Hades Contract. This may require on call duties.
- Work as member of the team and support other trades when necessary.
- Complete all documentation accurately and legibly.
This role is full time and based onsite at Middle Wallop.
Essential experience of the Vehicle Maintainer Driver:
- Experience with aircraft refuelling/Oshkosh and other military vehicles with knowledge and understanding of working environment, practices and procedures including JAMES system would be beneficially to this role.
Qualifications for the Vehicle Maintainer Driver:
- CAT B licence
- Cat C+E Licence
- ADR qualification. (desirable)
- Engineering experience (REME Class 2 NVQ Level 3 or Civilian Equivalent (City & Guilds).
The successful candidate must be able to achieve the minimum of a BPSS security clearance for this role.
