The role
As a Communications Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll work as part of a small collaborative team to deliver strategic services to both national and international customers with stringent key performance indicators, with a focus on engineering and operational solutions including design, repair and modification.
Day-to-day, you’ll be a duty engineer and complete maintenance, fault repair and standby duties. You’ll be capable of working within a small but highly effective team where the highest of standards are expected from both a technical and behavioural perspective.
- Operation and maintenance of transmitters and associated equipment as part of the engineering team to agreed standards
- Maintain technical and administrative records and provide information as required
- Give technical support and work independently on specialist projects as required
- Undertake first line fault investigation and assist with fault rectification and module repair
- Be part of a field service team and point of contact for helpdesk queries as required
- Carry out lone working duties at appropriate sites, in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations
The successful candidate will be expected to work a flexible schedule, including night and weekend shifts, as required.
This role is full time, 37.5-hours per week and is based on site at Skelton.
Essential experience of the Communications Engineer
- Comprehensive knowledge of current safe working practices and safety procedures
- Practical experience of transmitter operation and maintenance
- Basic workshop skills including hand and power tools
- Appropriate ICT knowledge
Qualifications for the Communications Engineer
- Engineer qualified to NVQ-4 (HNC/HND) level
- Full UK driving licence
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role.
