Building on the success of the UK MoD Type 31 Frigate we have secured contracts for frigate export variants (AH140) with overseas customers. As well as supporting exports of frigates the engineering team is actively working on other ship newbuild and life extension programs around the world, from small fast attack craft all the way up to aircraft carriers. You will join a national team of over 1000 engineers and designers within the Marine Sector of Babcock. We are a leading design consultancy providing naval architecture, marine system engineering, electrical engineering, design modelling and project support services to the marine and defence markets.
As a Senior Marine Structure FEA Analyst, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary.
Day-to-day, you’ll:
- Execute and deliver complex FEA analysis tasks.
- Use your deep technical knowledge to support product development throughout the design lifecycle.
- Provide technical support to key customers.
- Ensure efficient and effective delivery of engineering outputs.
- Generate appropriate analytical methodologies for the optimisation of stress analysis studies and produce appropriately justified technical solutions, interpreting, and converting analysis results into practical design outputs.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Marine Structure FEA Analyst
- The role requires professional expertise, knowledge & experience in FEA.
- Mechanical or structural experience within ships.
- Nonlinear analysis experience
- You should have experience in the use and application of ANSYS (preferable), LD-Dyna or Altair Hyperworks (desirable).
Qualifications for the Senior Marine Structure FEA Analyst
- HND/HNC level qualification in an engineering discipline
- Degree level qualification is advantageous.
- Be a member of a relevant institution (e.g., RINA, IET, IMechE, IMarEst etc.) and hold Chartered status or have a route to Chartership.
