Job Descrption

Role: Senior Product & Process Engineer.

 

Salary & Benefits: Salary £34,783 to £42,979 per annum dependant on experience, company van, annual bonus, attractive pension scheme (Up to 10% company contribution), life assurance cover of 4 times pensionable salary and 25 days annual leave, and days in lieu of working bank holidays plus a wellness day and development opportunities in line with the Senior Product & Process Engineer progression plan. Location: We currently have permanent opportunity for a Senior Product & Process Engineer to join our Bio-Resource department in the west, to cover the Huddersfield, Halifax and Dewsbury area.

 

Please note This role comes with standby allowance and call out when on standby, but no overtime can be claimed.

 The Senior Product & Process Engineer supports the Product & Process Engineer team to deliver asset and operational excellence across all wastewater assets. The role is critical in delivering our business performance targets, including Serviceability on our 'Non-Infrastructure' asset base. 

 

The Senior Product & Process Engineer safely delivers operational maintenance activities associated with the operation of the wastewater assets base and drive for the optimization of all processes to minimize operational cost and meet performance targets.

 

The role will play a key role in training, coaching and support for new PPE colleagues joining the team.

 

Where you fit in:

As our Senior Product & Process Engineer you will

  • Take ownership of whole site and maintaining a safe working environment by implementing and adhering to Health and Safety procedures; be accountable for the management of control of work to mitigate and pursue solutions for hazards identified on site, and CoW room standards are maintained. 
  • Manage and prioritise workload according to available resource.
  • Carry out day to day routine manual and technical work on the sites, including routine operations, instrument calibration and basic maintenance checks to prevent failure.
  • Work alongside PPTOs to help optimization of processes on sites (using SCADA and other systems) to improve process efficiency in terms of cost of treatment, site compliance, energy usage and generation. 
  • Provide technical expertise for on-site escalation tasks and fault finding.
  • Work with and cover PPTO duties as and when required. Also support PPTOs with on-site investigations – for example Pollution / Chemical usage / Energy / PSPIs / Recycling etc.
  • Take full site ownership including an understanding of the work that is being completed by other parties on site, working with MEICA.
  • Risk resolution of hazards working with the PPE team and PPM. Also understanding of risks on site and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Use SCADA and other corporate IT systems to observe plant performance, monitor trends and make site process adjustments; to use instrumentation and IT to drive new ways of working.
  • Day to day liaison with YW colleagues, service partners and contractors relating to onsite issues, including chairing site daily performance meetings to drive site performance.
  • Responding to alarms (on site and remotely) and carrying out corrective actions where necessary and to reduce alarms on site.  Also responding to out of hours calls from the control room as part of a level 1 standby Rota and working with colleagues to self-manage a 7-day working Rota, including plans for covering sickness and holidays.
  • React and assist in managing local incidents and emergencies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a Quality Management system on site, which will include the identification of critical assets and contingency plans to deal with asset failure.
  • Ensure all activities on site are conducted in accordance with the odour management plan and are completed in such a way as to prevent odour impacts on residents.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Excellent people and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and processes and make this understandable to new colleagues joining the business, or existing colleagues with less experience.

  • Full UK driving license (No more than six points)
