Regulatory Compliance Specialist (Water Production) - 12 Month Maternity Cover

 

Salary & Benefits: £37,147 - £46,434 per annum dependant on experience, annual bonus, attractive pension scheme (Up to 10% company contribution), life assurance cover of 4 times pensionable salary and 25 days annual leave, bank holidays, plus a wellness day and development opportunities in line with the Regulatory Compliance Specialist progression plan. Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join the Water Production team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Water Production are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. 

 

This role is an extremely important role with Water Production, you will work collaboratively with the Water Production Operational Team and the Water Asset Planning Team on specific regulatory compliance issues, to drive direction, improvements and ensure that any adverse risks and impacts are managed effectively and mitigated.

 

To develop and manage future investment strategies to reduce risk and resolve complex, often historic, Water Production regulatory compliance issues, with potentially conflicting drivers.

 

Where you fit in:

 

As our Regulatory Compliance Specialist you will

 

  • To provide expert regulatory compliance advice on abstraction, compensation, discharge, flow monitoring, meter calibration, and waste related matters to the Water Production operational team.
  • Monitor WTW discharge compliance, liaise with the WQ sampling team and manage the triggers process.
  • Resolve high priority, complex and often historic regulatory compliance issues on Water Production assets.
  • Act as a key regulatory compliance contact to assist the business in driving improvements to the Environmental Performance Assessment aspects relevant to Water Production, particularly in relation to the Abstraction and Impoundment metric.
  • Provide technical support in the management of compliance fails and ‘near misses’ relating to Water Production assets. 
  • Provide expert technical advice to reservoir safety, WTW quality and WINEP capital schemes.
  • Manage liaison with various technical and strategic teams within the Environment Agency to ensure the Water Production’s regulatory compliance interests are understood, and decisions are managed effectively.

 

What skills & qualifications you will need:

 

  • Educated to relevant degree level or extensive professional experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant regulatory compliance issues and associated regulation.
  • Experience of Health and Safety management processes and systems.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player with excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Clearly demonstrates the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, which are used to effectively influence and negotiate on regulatory compliance matters on a local, regional, and national scale.
  • Proficient In the use of IT.
  • Full driving licence.

 

You will also benefit from having:

 

  • Financial awareness.
  • Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of P4Y Project Lifecycle.
  • Proficient knowledge of corporate systems.
  • Knowledge of YW risk policy and process.
  • Experience of incident management processes.

 

We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 2 day in the office/on site per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
