Capital Delivery Programme Manager
  

Salary & Benefits(3a): £56,871 – £91,916 + company car scheme or allowance + private healthcare + up to 10% pension contribution (increase under review) + annual bonus + retail savings schemes + online GP access + life assurance cover + free on-site parking + 25 days holiday + 1 wellbeing day + bank holidays 


Location: Buttershaw, Bradford. Hybrid working - 2 days a week in the office 


Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday. 
 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Capital Delivery Programme Manager to join the Programme Delivery Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. The Programme Delivery team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.   
 
The Capital Delivery team consists of Yorkshire Water colleagues, contract partners, sub-contractors and consultants working collaboratively to deliver the majority of the capital programme for the company. Over the next five-year period, we anticipate a programme of work in the region of £3 billion of investment covering the complete range of water and wastewater assets. The Capital Delivery Programme Manager plays a pivotal role in the successful delivery of this portfolio of capital projects.


The purpose of the role is to drive delivery of a subprogramme within the capital programme to time, cost and quality, achieving best value outcomes. The role will manage a subprogramme delivering over £100m per year capital investment in our clean and wastewater asset base.  

  
The role will form part of the Programme Delivery Leadership team (PDLT) shaping the wider progress of the entire department. Key areas of focus as well as delivering the programme to time, cost and quality are, driving safety and environmental performance, improving our project delivery processes, partner relationship management, supporting strong colleague engagement and the development of our teams.

  
Where you fit in: 


As our Capital Delivery Programme Manager you will 

  • Be a key part of the Programme Delivery Leadership Team, leading a subprogramme of work delivering a significant element of the overall capital programme
  • Work with key stakeholders within Yorkshire Water regarding the delivery of the programme of work
  • Provide the link with the Yorkshire Water operations teams and proactively engage with them to drive programme visibility to ensure all understand the plan and support it
  • Handle any project escalations including operational concerns and provide constructive challenge and innovative thinking
  • Co-ordinate and deliver key operational insights to enable a TOTEX driven approach
  • Lead and inspire a team of Senior Project Managers, Project Managers and Project Coordinators creating a high performing team with effective resource management
  • Support in shaping AMP8 (2025 – 2030) development to ensure we set ourselves up to succeed, feeding into the overall AMP8 strategy and workstreams to deliver key objectives within critical timescales
  • Effectively communicate to the Board, including writing Board papers and presenting information eloquently
  • Look for wider industry best practice and experience to drive improvements within the delivery team  
      

What skills & qualifications you will need: 

 

  • Focussed and driven individual who revels in a challenging environment
  • Experience of leading a team delivering complex construction projects in a live operational environment
  • Proven track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets
  • Great people skills, coaching and mentoring, driving a high performing team
  • Accomplished communicator, negotiator and presenter
  • Develop and maintain excellent internal and external working relationships
  • Ability to work within a partnering/Alliancing environment driving performance and results whilst creating a highly collaborative, inclusive environment
  • Proven record of budget management and financial performance
  • Strong commercial understanding particularly NEC contracts
  • Experience and excellent understanding of risk management, governance and assurance policies, procedures and practice
  • Knowledge of construction processes, Civil Engineering or Mechanical/Electrical
  • Lead by example and demonstrate the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours whilst demonstrating relentless drive, energy and determination to deliver

    We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 2 days in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
