Role: Product & Process Technical Optimiser

 

Salary & Benefits: Salary £39,362 to 47,809 per annum dependant on experience, company car through company car lease scheme, annual bonus, attractive pension scheme (Up to 10% company contribution), life assurance cover of 4 times pensionable salary and 25 days annual leave, bank holidays, additional days in lieu of working any bank holidays, plus a wellness day and development opportunities in line with the Product & Process Technical Optimiser progression plan. Work type:  We have a permanent opportunity for a Product & Process Technical Optimiser to join the Bio-Resource department at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you? The current work pattern is working 37 hours, Monday to Sunday between 08.00 and 16.00 which will include working 1 in 5 weekends. Level 2 standby is a future potential requirement of the role, therefore flexibility outside of working core hours is essential.

 

Location: The Product & Process Technical Optimiser will cover Leeds region. Successful applicants would need to live with a reasonable commutable distance of our Knostrop wastewater treatment works.

Bio-Resources are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. 

 

The Product & Process Technical Optimiser will be accountable for the production performance of key Bio-Resource sites, and ensure maximum performance of sludge throughput, maximising energy generation and optimal chemical usage.

 

The Product & Process Technical Optimiser will also be a requirement to provide the site operations team with process expertise, training, and support to deliver operational excellence.  This will be a combination of ‘hands on’ front line trouble shooting couples with desk top optimisation and production planning.

 

Where you fit in:

As our Product & Process Technical Optimiser you will:

  • The role shall form part of the area management team and must show role model leadership and be willing to lead the site operations team from a production performance perspective.
  • To present data in team hubs, lead collaborative working sessions (PSTB etc.,), and be active on sites.  Estimated to be 40% on site time, 60% office-based activity.
  • To provide support and challenge in ensuring all activity is undertaken in a safe manner, in accordance with all Y.W. Health & Safety policies.
  • To deliver industry leading operational performance in the following areas:  Energy Generation, Generation Performance, Chemical Optimisation, Asset Reliability Investigations, Management of Change.

 

Energy Generation:

  • To ensure sites meet their optimum throughput, through effective thickening/dewatering performance and accurate import availability to maximise digester throughput and minimise logistics penalties.
  • To plan, organise and drive planned and reactive works relating to site gas users, within the KAM system and with resolution on site.
  • To monitor, investigate and report on PSPI events.
  • Chemical Optimisation:
  • To monitor site chemical usage and work with the site operations to ensure the usage is at the optimum level and to intervene when this is not being achieved.  The role will
  • To own any corrective actions and demonstrate an understanding of current chemical run rates, with an expectation to be able to report on this.
  • To liaise with chemical partners to trial new systems where applicable.
  • To ensure strict savings targets are met.

 

Asset Reliability Investigations:

  • To monitor site operations AO&M quality of completion. Providing support and guidance where necessary.
  • To understand the outstanding risks across the sites that they accountable for.  To control these and escalate where necessary through asset planning and asset management.
  • Where required, the site risks will be fed into the asset planning process, supporting in the smooth delivery of these works (construction, commissioning, and benefits realisation).
  • To be sites first point of contact for RTS alarm management including remote intervention planning.

 

Management of Change:

  • To create and submit necessary MoC requests (e.g., H & S & process).
  • To monitor and hold the site team (SPPE/PPE) to account in always following the requirements of the MoC.

 

 

What skills, experience and qualifications you will need:

  • WAMITAB qualified as a TCM or be willing to work towards the qualification.
  • Knowledge of typical STW/STF asset bases.
  • Detailed technical understanding of wastewater and sludge treatment processes and importantly how to fault find/optimise these.
  • Working knowledge and experience of SCADA/RTS systems.
  • Experience of working to challenging business plans and driving delivery of outputs.
  • Experience of working with energy reports.
  • Experience of delivering continual improvement in a mature production environment.
  • Analytical and proficient in key IT systems.
  • Experience of working to Health and Safety Management Systems.
  • The duties of the role include several reactive areas, therefore effective prioritisation of workload and efficiency of delivery.

 

  • You will also benefit from having:

  • Experience of working with gas systems.
