Job Overview
The Sr. Quality Manager for Light Industrial is responsible for leading, supervising, planning and directing activities concerned with the Quality Assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products for all locations within the Light Industrial Strategic Business Unit (SBU) of Hubbell’s Electrical Solutions (HES) Segment.
A Day In The Life
- Monitor compliance with Hubbell’s Quality Policy and promote a culture with this approach
- Instill a mentality of driving to root cause of issues and implementing corrective and preventative actions
- In concert with the HES Quality Director and other SBU Quality Managers, develop quality policies, standards, and programs to drive continuous improvement of the quality of products and services to promote customer satisfaction
- Work with SBU leadership to ensure compliance with the company’s quality requirements, in addition to complying with customer and regulatory requirements for quality, safety and reliability
- Ensure proper quality control execution on product moves and new product (NPD/NPX) implementation
- Partner with Sourcing/Procurement teams to drive supplier quality improvement, including effective quality-driven supplier evaluation, feedback and follow-up
- Provide ongoing analytical and problem-solving support to plant management and customers on critical quality problems as needed
- Educate quality personnel and business leaders on quality principles
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Bachelor's degree with a focus on engineering, natural sciences, business management, industrial science, or statistics required
- 10+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of relevant and progressive experience in Quality Engineering/Management
- Proficient in Problem Resolution
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, customers and suppliers
- Ability to acquire a basic understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment, software and contracts
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, probability and statistical inference to practical situations
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Attentive to details and accuracy
- Collaboration skills, ability to work in a team environment
- Strong communication skills across different levels throughout the organization
- Ability to travel (up to 50%)
- SAP experience required
- Knowledge/experience with ISO9001 certification process required
- NUPIC Nuclear Audit experience a plus
- Experience with UL/CSA and other regulatory agencies preferred
- DMAIC/Six Sigma and/or ASQ Certification (CQE/CQM) a plus
- Experience in APQP and PPAP preferred
