Job Title:        Team Lead – Explosives People Development
Location:        Can be based from any QinetiQ site

The Team Lead - Explosives People Development is responsible for establishing, and maintaining, a robust training and competency management system for all OME roles, in line with QinetiQ’s competency management strategy. The competency management system is to be aligned with National Occupational Standards, Explosives Regulations 2014, DSA 03 and OF Instructions.

 

The role is responsible for co-ordinating the CPD of all people within the OME discipline, to enable continued personal growth and enhance operational delivery capabilities. The role is responsible for liaising with OME TLs, HOS’ and other stakeholders to identify current issues and matters of the moment requiring training intervention. The TL OME People Development is responsible for the creation, co-ordination and continuous improvement of an ‘Explosives Worker Workplace Induction Programme’, aligned with the expectations of the Explosives Substances & Articles National Occupational Standards (ESA NOS). The TL OME People Development is responsible for liaison with OME training providers to ensure delivery is appropriate for QinetiQ’s requirements.

 

The role:

 

As a recognised explosives technical expert, the role will routinely be expected to take the lead on any technical investigations, explosives process development or improvement and consult on explosives investment projects. The role holder requires significant problem solving acumen, with the ability to provide solutions to complex problems utilising novel techniques if required to do so.

 

Day-to-day, you will be:

 

  • Develop and implement a robust OME Competency Management System.
  • Conduct continuous OME Training Needs Analysis to enable safe, efficient and effective operations.
  • Coordination and delivery of all OME training requirements.
  • Develop an internal and wider industry network to enable transfer of best practice into the discipline.
  • Coordinate training to address trending issues internally and industry wide.
  • Drive a culture of Continued Professional Development across the OME discipline.

 

Essential experience of the Team Lead:

 

  • The role requires expert knowledge of the complete spectrum of explosives processes/activities.
  • Previous experience with conducting training needs analysis.
