Manufacturing Engineer Specialist (Composites SME) in  GAC Savannah

Unique Skills:

• Relevant hands-on/manufacturing experience with aerospace composite materials.

• Experienced in composite manufacturing processes: ply kitting, manual layup, bagging, autoclave operation, machining, and assembly.

• Familiarity with a variety of tooling techniques for molding and machining/trimming of composites.

• Strong technical knowledge of composite materials and design.

• Knowledge of CATIA V5 CPD Workbench and Fibersim preferred but not required.

Job Description

1. For manufacturing process to which individual is assigned: provide and maintain detailed work instructions, drive quality improvements, efficiency improvements, material presentation enhancements, manage the daily work plan, provide metrics for quality and schedule performance, and coordinate engineering and tooling changes as required. to meet Operations goals.
2. Select appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex manufacturing and engineering issues aimed at process development and improvement in the manufacturing areas.
3. Is consulted extensively by associates and others as a recognized authority on application of manufacturing and engineering principles in the manufacturing area. Provide technical assistance and training to Operations Engineers.
4. Anticipate and resolve complex issues within the manufacturing process in creative and effective ways, developing standards and guidelines for diverse engineering and manufacturing activities that affect the successful manufacture of the aircraft, installation of the systems or performance of the aircraft.
5. Approach to problem solving balances product quality, cost and performance to schedule.
6. Work without appreciable direction; work is reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results.
7. Exercise latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments, and make decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.

1. Maintain a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product. .
