Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 6 years Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Planning, Aviation Maintenance or related technical experience. Position Purpose:Incorporates Lean Manufacturing Methodology to supervise and lead the day-to-day operations of Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering. Performs engineering duties and provides technical direction and supervision to subordinates. Ensures that work methods and procedures are in place and followed to achieve quality, schedule, and cost objectives. Controls the inventory management and production control operations of all related material functions.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions:
Performs technical studies of a complex nature and conducts analysis of operations (existing or proposed). Prepares a report of recommendations for equipment needed and corrects methods of manufacturing (including sequence of operations and detailed methodology of complex assemblies and installations as well as detail components).
Generates proposals and recommends corrective actions for areas of responsibility and assists in resolving vendor problems.
Conducts research, investigation, and analysis in connection with assigned planning to ensure conformance to requirements.
Investigates and assists in preparing justification for equipment and facility requests.
Performs producibility studies from engineering drawings.
Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential; makes necessary computer inputs and generates data or reports as needed.
Prioritizes workloads based on schedules and needs; provides completion dates and work estimates based on available resources, past performance schedules, etc.
Ensures the groups output achieves the quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
Supervises and trains subordinates in work methods and procedures and in the efficient and effective use of company resources to resolve work-related or quality problems.
Works with applicable departments to ensure all manufacturing processes are repeatable and meet engineering requirements.
Maintains and coordinates master schedule and critical path.
Supports internal and external customers through the use of inventory control, shipping, receiving, purchasing, planning, quality, and off-site functions.
Controls planning and purchasing of inventory and ensures timely disbursement of necessary parts to the aircraft. .
Utilizes Lean Six Sigma tools and principles to develop, plan and implement MBU layout, process flow, material handling, and cost and quality improvements.
Leads and assists in creating a culture of continuous improvement with respect to business prioritized areas.
Additional Functions:
Studies and keeps abreast of industry regulations (e.g. Department of State, ITAR, FAA) and publications as they pertain to parts handling, export licensing and control customs, and anti boycott procedures. .
Perform other duties as assigned.Other Requirements:
Lean Manufacturing certification preferred.
Must have proven expertise in the specific discipline and proven track record in support of policies and rules and in consistently meeting objectives.
Must be knowledgeable about engineering configuration requirements, project management, tooling, quality control, plant safety, blueprint reading, and shop math.
Must be able to operate computerized equipment, such as personal computers, CADAM, CATIA, etc.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
Must possess initiative, planning ability, excellent interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities.
