As we seek to further grow the tax business in Belfast and build new contacts and engagements with businesses across the region, we are looking for tax professionals who excel at and determine how we can add value to them by addressing those needs, is therefore a key client relationships and who have the confidence and skills to win new work and clients. Business development skills, in terms of being able to go out and meet new contacts, understand their business needs requirement.
As a business tax professional working in EY’s Belfast office you’ll provide a full range of business tax advisory services. You’ll be working alongside specialists on a day to day basis to broaden your experience of different business tax advisory areas to help our clients through the challenges of tax planning, both UK and international, and to provide support on merger and acquisitions transactions both from a tax due diligence and a tax structuring point of view. The varied work, which encompasses all business tax advisory matters including corporate and shareholder reorganisations, corporate restructuring, corporate acquisitions and disposals (with a particular focus on tax due diligence and tax structuring projects), refinancing, BEPS and international tax, means ultimately this role will offer broad experience with exposure to senior stakeholders and a more varied portfolio to help you develop your career with EY.
Your key responsibilities
- To contribute to the efficient and successful delivery of business tax advisory services for tax advisory projects ensuring technical excellence
- Build and maintain tax relationships with clients and provide exceptional client service
- Build relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, to support the identification of opportunities and manage expectations
- Proactive member of the tax project team
Skills and attributes for success
- Experienced business tax practitioner with experience in UK taxation
- Experience of working on business tax advisory type projects, experience of issues including loss relief, reorganisations, patent box, BEPs and international tax issues
- Up to date knowledge of changes in the tax environment (BEPS, CBCR etc)
- Client driven and strategically and commercially aware
- Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral.
- Enthusiastic and flexible attitude to work
- Strong and motivated team player
- Coaching more junior staff
- Any of the following preferred: ATT / ACA / CA / CTA (or breadth of knowledge equivalent to CTA)
- Graduate/Graduate calibre or equivalent work experience
To qualify for the role you must have
- Experienced business tax advisor with UK corporate tax experience for this role
- Experience of working on business tax advisory projects including business restructuring and reorganisation projects, tax due diligence and tax structuring projects for corporate acquisitions.
- Up to date knowledge of changes in the tax environment (BEPS, CBCR etc)
Ideally, you’ll also have
- A solid background in UK corporate tax compliance and experience of international tax matters
- Excellent project management skills
- Client centric focus and commercial awareness
- Team player, ability to integrate with new teams quickly and build effective relationships at all levels
- Ability to identify areas of risk
