What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Develop and validate MBD models of automotive systems, including chassis, suspension, and powertrain components, incorporating digitized tracks to simulate real-world operating conditions.
  • Predict and analyze dynamic loads experienced by vehicle components using MBD simulations, considering factors such as road profiles, driving maneuvers, and environmental conditions.
  • Utilize MBD-generated loads to perform structural damage prediction and durability assessments, identifying potential areas of concern and recommending design improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design, testing, and validation, to ensure that structural integrity and durability requirements are met throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for vehicle dynamics simulations, including handling, ride comfort, and stability analyses.
  • Generate comprehensive technical reports and presentations to communicate analysis results, recommendations, and design optimizations to stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in MBD, structural analysis, and vehicle dynamics methodologies, incorporating best practices into simulation workflows.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience is also acceptable.
  • Eight or more years of experience in multibody simulation within the automotive industry, with a proven record of delivering impactful results.
  • Proven experience in multibody dynamics (MBD) simulation software such as Adams, Simpack, or CarSim, with a focus on automotive applications.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis, fatigue and durability principles, and vehicle dynamics theory.
  • Proficiency in using finite element analysis (FEA) software for structural damage prediction and durability assessments.
  • Experience with digitizing road profiles and creating realistic track models for MBD simulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex engineering systems and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $140,000-$160,000

Internal leveling code: IC8
