Responsibilities

The Correspondence Tech is Desert Valley Medical Groups designated contact for requests for release of patient health information. This position is responsible for accepting all requests for patient health information and responding to each within the mandated timeframes. Maintain knowledge of the Federal HIPAA regulations, California Consent and Release of Information Laws and policies and procedures. Assures all release of information activities are in compliance with each of the regulatory guidelines. Additionally, completes all job duties following HIPAA’s guideline for release of the minimum protected health information necessary to those who have the right and need to know basis. Ensures accurate billing practices are defined by group policies and procedures, recording of payments, and submission of payments for deposit. Processes and keeps accurate records of all release of patient health information. Serves as a receptionist and assist in other assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Minimum 1 year HIM experience in outpatient clinic setting required.2. Minimum six months direct release of information duties required.3. Accurate alphabetic, numeric, and / or terminal digit filing skills.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $16.00 to $19.64. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
