Headquartered in New York City, Newsweek also publishes international editions in EMEA and Asia. 

 

Newsweek is excited to offer fellowship positions on our digital news team focused on Live News coverage. This fellowship combines traditional reporting with cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence to produce high-quality journalism across various beats and topics. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Produce multiple stories daily across a range of beats, including but not limited to U.S. politics, U.S. social affairs, crime, international current affairs, celebrities and reality TV, and consumer affairs. 
  • Utilize AI tools, such as large language models, to assist in the production and enhancement of news stories. 
  • Pitch story ideas and accept assignments from editors, ensuring high-quality coverage that is accurate, fair, and adheres to accepted standards of journalism. 
  • Obtain source and expert comments, and use authoritative primary sources to enrich news content. 
  • Meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment, including breaking news situations. 
  • Write clean, concise copy on tight deadlines and self-edit work to maintain high editorial standards. 
  • Brainstorm story ideas when requested by editors and be open to mentoring and coaching from Newsweek’s editorial team. 

Qualifications: 

  • Experience with writing and reporting, with a strong portfolio demonstrating journalistic skills. 
  • Knowledge of AI tools and digital publishing platforms is desirable. 
  • Ability to work independently and motivate oneself while working from home. 
  • Strong self-starter with the capability to commit to a full-time 40-hour workweek.
  • Openness to mentoring and coaching from Newsweek’s editorial team. 

Ideal Candidate: 

The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a passion for journalism and a willingness to adapt to new technologies and methodologies. They will excel at producing high-quality, timely news content while working collaboratively with a dynamic team of editors and fellow journalists. Candidates should be comfortable working remotely and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

Fellowship duration: Five-month contract with potential for extension

Fellowship pay rate: $20/hour
