Vast is looking for a Senior Manager of Embedded Systems, reporting to the Senior Director of Avionics Software, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- End-to-end ownership of all embedded systems flying on Haven-1 and beyond
- Recruit, retain, and lead a high performing team capable of building next-generation embedded systems for the Haven vehicle program
- Set team strategy and technical direction and drive execution toward achieving Haven mission success and meeting business objectives
- This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be contributing to the code base as well as helping the team configure the Linux kernel, RTOS, boot sequences, etc.
- Work closely with the avionics hardware team to understand the avionics flight hardware design
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or other engineering discipline
- 10+ years of experience developing embedded systems
- 5+ years of experience building and managing teams to deliver on a technical vision and strategy
- Know how to read schematics and hardware datasheets
- Familiarity with git, make, and gnu tools
- Understanding and ability to work in a Linux environment
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience with board bring up of new embedded platforms
- Experience with fault tolerant and safety critical software design on complex systems such as spacecraft, aircraft or autonomous vehicles
- Experience with bare machine programming
- Experience with network programming
- Working with satellite communications or telemetry systems
Pay Range:
- Senior Manager, Embedded Systems: $185,000 - $235,000
