Senior Appraisal Review Underwriter at Goodleap

Job Descrption
The Senior Appraisal Review Underwriter will act as the Subject Matter Expert on high risk appraisals on all loan programs and be able to handle Escalations for the department including the regular duties of an Appraisal Review Underwriter.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs initial reviews of mainly high risk appraisal reports or complex properties requiring a high level of expertise prepared by external appraisers in conformance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures that data on appraisal report is consistent with Encompass, title, and other relevant docs as needed and the appropriate conditions and revision requests are entered and communicated to relevant parties as needed.
- Handles the escalation mailbox as the SME and provide guidance to appraisal review UWs and other departments with escalated questions and concerns with the collateral.
- Continually assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the appraisal process and be proactive in recommending adjustments to support regulatory updates, increase process efficiency, or reduce projected risks to the company.
- Conduct special reviews on post closed loans and repurchase requests to respond to findings or provide further support of value. Also review high risk loans and complex properties to provide expert opinions on valuation.
- Assist management in writing or editing policies and procedures for training and compliance purposes as related to the Appraisal Department.
- Provide training to new hires and ongoing training/guidance to the appraisal team and coordinators as required.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Must be a licensed real estate appraiser with 5-10+ years appraising experience or if unlicensed, a minimum 10+ years of specific mortgage related appraisal experience.
- Subject matter expertise required on high risk appraisals and complex properties.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all departments.
- Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients.
- Ability to train or provide guidance to junior level reviewers.
- Ability to manage workload and timeliness.
- Knowledge in completing or reviewing high risk products such as FHA appraisals, manufactured home, condos, and unique properties.
- Knowledge of Encompass and/or FNC is a plus.
- Knowledge of VA appraisals or SAR certification is a plus.
