Our Senior Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for maintaining and administering the backend infrastructures and platforms that support Wanstor and serve our hosted customer base.
Reliability, security and stability are of paramount importance in every aspect our work and this requires extensive technical knowledge in key subject areas including virtualisation, storage and datacentre hardware.

Detailed Role Function
Maintain and administer internal and hosting infrastructures with consideration to security, cross-platform integrations, performance, risk and resilience/availability.
Take ownership of incidents impacting infrastructure availability and reliability, ensuring that they are seen through to conclusion.
Thinking laterally in order to break a problem down into its component parts to identify and diagnose root causes. You will need to troubleshoot and identify problems across different technologies.
Maintain ownership of infrastructure reporting platforms to facilitate billing and capacity management/forecasting.
Ensure infrastructures and platforms remain compliant with Cyber Essentials Plus requirements through regular patching, upgrade and refresh of devices/applications.
Onsite datacentre maintenance work including installation and decommissioning of servers, SANs and other enterprise hardware.
Provide technical escalation assistance to the NOC and senior engineering teams where the hosting and internal infrastructures are concerned.
Ensuring that monitoring and alerting systems for infrastructure are properly configured and maintained.
Supporting the development of more junior colleagues through mentoring and sharing knowledge.
Implementation, maintenance and development of core and datacentre systems, including maintaining current technical knowledge of and relevant certifications in:
Windows Server, including Hyper V
VMware vCenter and ESXi
Veeam Backup and Replication
iSCSI shared storage and SAN
Maintaining up-to-date documentation on core infrastructure systems.
This role involves some work outside of core business hours.

Required Experience
Can demonstrate ability to work independently and safely in datacentre environments, including installing and configuring server and storage hardware. You will have excellent attention to detail and show excellent organisational skills.
Experienced working with the following technologies in large and complex configurations
Windows Server versions through to version 2022 and Hyper V.
Specific SCVMM experience advantageous.
VMware vCenter and ESXi
Veeam Backup and Replication
iSCSI shared storage and SAN
Able to assess risk and control changes in large and complex infrastructures.
Ownership of complex IT projects and support at a senior / technical lead level
